Autumn Bucket List – 6th and final update!

Back in September, I sat down and wrote my first ever bucket list.
You can find my original post here:ย Autumn Bucket List

The last 2 items on my list are:

39. Document my bucket list with pictures

40. Blog about my progress weekly ….๐Ÿ˜ž I didn’t do this weekly but here I am with my 6th and final update.

This is my last updateโ€ฆ what did I do and what did I “not do”!

#3 – Spend an afternoon painting pumpkin.

We waited so long that we ended-up making winter pumpkins… at least it started that way….

But ended this way… ย ๐Ÿ™‚

#14 – Make cookies with Em and let her eat as many as she wants.

We do that regularly but didn’t take any pictures. ย We made chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies and gingerbread cookies.

#16 – Trim our Christmas tree

Did you notice the cute ballerina on the wall? ย That’s me, many years ago!

#25 – Donate a turkey to the turkey drive.

Emily and I donated a turkey to her school to help them in their food drive. ย I am really happy to say that her high school was once again the top high school in collecting food for our region! ย I am so proud of those kids and families for all they do for our community.

And now, here is what I didn’t do!

#11 – Jump in puddles with Em – She always walks through puddles ๐Ÿ™‚ and I walk around them. ย I haven’t jump in a puddle with her! ย Maybe that should be a summer item!

#24 – Take Jake and Maple to the groomer… ย We should really do this. ย I am going to move this to my to-do list.

#26 – Help deliver Christmas food box with my team. ย I am slightly ashamed to say that I didn’t do it this year. ย My schedule was so full, I couldn’t figure out how to rearrange my schedule… ย ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

#29 – Bring goodies for the next bake sale at work – I was off the day of the bake sale and didn’t bring anything. ย I will bring some for the next bake sale.

#30 and #33 – Write and mail Christmas cards – I suck at this, I know it means the world to many to receive hand-written Christmas cards but I like human contact. ย I like to visit when I can and I like to buy gifts when I see my nephews. ย I don’t mail gifts…

Here you have it! My final update.

Let’s put the tree up!

Today is the day!

It’s December so let’s decorate!

My mom always waited for the first weekend of December to put the tree up when we were young. I don’t think she really enjoyed that particular task so as soon as I was responsible enough to do it, I took the job of decorating our Christmas tree over from mom.

Now, I still enjoy putting the tree up and every year, I try to get Emily involved.

This year was no exception.

She unwrapped the ornaments and put them on the tree… All in the same general area!

It made me smile. I am so happy she’s careful enough to handle the ornaments. I’m happy she wants to help.

It made me sad a little too. The concept of spreading the ornaments around the tree to be somewhat even is completely lost on her. The desire to take over the task is not there at all. To put the lights in the tree is unthinkable…

I got over it quickly.

I laughed when I dropped and broke one of the ornaments… Emily couldn’t believe I did that. I had to explain to her that it was an accident, that its broken now so all that is left to do is clean-up so we don’t cut our feet.

Here’s our living room, our tree and some close-up on my favorite ornaments.

Yes, we have a butterfly for tree top. We have, frogs, dragonfly, butterfly, crowns and birds in our tree!

I don’t do traditional! I don’t like to be like everyone else.

It’s good to be different and once you embrace it, life is wonderful!
